Emirates airline popular in north-east

Emirates Airline has said its service from Newcastle airport to Dubai is proving successful and popular.
The carrier introduced the route a year ago and reported that over 140,000 people have travelled on such flights so far, 20,000 more than the original prediction.
Some 25 per cent of these trips were found to have been undertaken for business purposes.
Vic Sheppard, vice president of Emirates in the UK and Ireland, said: "Given that it has been a challenging time for the entire airline industry, we are delighted to have received such strong support from the north-east travelling public."
Anyone travelling on flights to Dubai for business or pleasure may be interested to hear of the opening of a new resort in the city.
The Lost City of Atlantis, a 1,539-room complex, will open to the public officially on September 24th and the first guests have already splashed out on a luxury suite, including a gold-plated dining area.
